Citizen Alliance has the General Assembly of members as supreme decision-making body which meets annually and appoints the Board of Directors mandated to provide policy guidance and oversight to the Secretariat.
The Board is headed by a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson while the Secretariat is headed by the Executive Director. CA operates through Chapters called Citizen Forums, primary platform for active citizen participation.

Viwemi Louis Chavula, a Commissioner for the Malawi Human Rights Commission (2023-2026), a member of the AU Women Peace and Security Civil Society Reference Group, is a former National Democratic Institute (NDI) deputy country director in Malawi, has over 20 years of experience across the democratic governance spectrum: from promoting peaceful coexistence, women’s empowerment and participation in national, local and private sector processes to building responsiveness and accountability between elected officials, civil society organizations and constituents through Local Development Initiatives., Mr. Chavula holds a Master’s Degree in Development Studies from University of Free State (South Africa) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Mzuzu University. He also has a postgraduate diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation from Stellenbosch University (South Africa).

A Chartered Accountant with years of post-qualification experience in Grants and Finance having working in public and NGO institutions. Working as Grants Manager in United Purpose and passionate about accountability, citizen participation in ending poverty and injustices, Human rights, democracy and governance.

Currently working as an Executive Director for Sky Foundation an organization working on Governance and Livelihood.
